The Process

It's simple, everything is 100% made by hand.

Cutting

No presses and dies, and no lasers. We trace out each pattern by hand and then carefully cut them out with a sharp blade.

Stitching

A leather good is only as strong as its stitch. We utilize the tried-and-true saddle stitch. In a saddle stitch, the two threads alternate sides and actually create two lines of stitching. If one of them breaks, the other holds the piece together, and the piece will be perfectly usable. This is unlike a machine stitch (or lock stitch) where the two threads run in parallel, and the stitch would continue to unravel if one of them were to fail.

Edge Burnishing

One thing that should never be over-looked on a leather good is how well the edge is finished. We burnish our edges with various agents like tokonole, gum tragacanth, or water (or a combination of the lot). The timely process requires repeated sanding down of the edge with increasing grits and then buffing it to a shine. This allows for the edge to stay well protected from the elements while exhibiting a bit of a sheen.
